Programmatic assessment is an approach to assessment aimed at optimizing both the learning and decision function of assessment. A programmatic assessment approach includes a set of key principles that are important for an effective design; however, its implementation is considered as a challenge. As programmatic assessment feeds into the learning and therefore also in the teaching and learning activities, as well as at the decision-making level, an overall curriculum design process using a combined education and assessment framework is considered important for a successful implementation. In this workshop, the process of design and change during implementation of programmatic assessment will be discussed, using insights from literature and experiences in daily practice.
